PCT Day 1

April 15. Campo to mile 12/13. First day. Woke up at 7am at the Best Western in San Diego. The night before we stayed up until 12:15am sorting through our things and preparing drop boxes. I ate an omelette, toast and fruit for breakfast and dropped off my computer and camera for fedex pick-up. Mike, christy’s buddy, picked us up in his toyota pick-up and drove us to Campo. The hardware store, East County Lumber, has denatured alcohol, which is hard to come by in the desert, and fills bottles for hikers. Now it is 8:15pm. We hiked slowly from 12:00 noon until 7:45. We were hoping to make it to Hoser Creek but found a sweet spot on the hill about 3 miles south of it and had to set up tent at 7:45 pm as it was getting dark. Beautiful weather! Plentiful water sources! Feel tuckered and feet tired. Probably hiked 13 miles? We were aiming for 16.
